Short take and your stream of writing here has been very helpful for me and my effort to bring the topic into local discussion.

and your quote " AND start the “Manged Retreat” to the “world that will be”."

My thought it should be a managed retreat but more likely a mangled one.

Our Global industrialized Society is about to come crashing down with death and destruction everywhere . I have some questions for you

1-What will the Earth be like by 2054?

2-Would World War 3 happen by 2035?

WW-3 is already happening. Putin's invasion of Ukraine was the 1914 Sarajevo moment.

The campaign is an alliance by China and Russia to cause the collapse of America as the unitary superpower. With a realigned world order centered around China as the new center of power.

America is in disarray.

Divided within and being challenged abroad to "prove" our strength.

Biden has done a good job of political theater and projected a calm "everything is fine" message to the world. He has been counting on "Trump Fever" breaking and the country going back to a unity that he remembers and craves.

Biden has been expecting to be popular. He has been hoping to win big and have the "Mandate of Heaven" in his second term. Instead the Trumpists are more unified than ever and the US is crippled in its ability to respond effectively to international threats.

Right now, the war is mostly abstract.

It's about control of international financial agencies and forming trade blocs. About redirecting flows of resources and getting countries to choose a side to stand with.

That doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I mean China and Russia are probably happy at this point. The USA is collapsing , a lot of cities are going into disarray . A lot of people in the younger generations are hopeless or depressed.

Also Richard thank you for your response.

I have one last question

What has been permanently damaged or what has permanently changed on the Earth due to human activity that cannot ever be the same ever again other than the countless animal species that have gone extinct.

What do you think will be the aftermath of the 2024 election?

I have to admit as a member of Generation Z (Born in 2004) , i have a feeling I will be witnessing a lot of bad events.

Yeah....sorry about that. We could have done better.

Should have really.

I mean it's not like we didn't study the crap out of wars, revolutions, and social collapses. There was a shitload of material to work with.

We could have learned from the past and tried something completely new. That's what the awfulness of the Industrial Revolution supposedly bought us. A MASSIVE jump in productivity that would unchain millions from lives of serfdom and allow us to finally create more egalitarian societies.

Instead, we have just repeated the patterns of the past on a MUCH larger scale.

Gen X here. Got a Gen Z kid my ex and I brought into this world 'fore I knew how bad this shit was. Thought climate change just meant summers would be a little hotter so, ya know, who cared about a few degrees here and there of warming. Then I did an in-depth study and… my world was shattered.

I’m saying that I’m scared for my kid. For you Genzies. I had no fucking idea how bad things were. I do now. So… I’m just enjoying these precious moments right now. Right here. And smoking ‘em big time.

Just be loving towards them , as long as things get worse , the one that should remain is being loving towards them, it makes all the difference in the world. I admit I feel bad for you Gen X , first the boomers and now climate change.

I don't like the Pakistan thought. Now consider Isreal is also nuclear and may have backed themselves into a corner worth this Gaza thing. There is no way the Israeli Army could fight Hezzbolla right now and win. And if Turkey steps in Isreal will be in an existential crisis. So . . . are they going to just let themselves get over-run? Russia is also rattling a nuclear sword concerning NATO taking any more direct action in Ukraine. This is not a good look.

Indeed. But if we were desperate for arable land, why would we use the one weapon that makes land useless for generations? Serious question, asking for 8 billion friends...

Could it be an "If I can't have it, nobody can have it" answer? People do terrible things when they are backed into a corner.

As many on the collapse subreddit say "Smoke 'em while you got 'em." Well I got 'em and I'm smokin' 'em. The weed -- ahem, legal medical cannabis here in Australia, sir -- really helping with my climate anxiety.

I don’t see the hesitancy to use stratospheric aerosol cooling to last much longer. Every country at dire risk from heat effects that has the capability will have a strong incentive to take this path, unilaterally if need be.

I find little to disagree with here. And yeah, I wake up with the climate crisis on my mind at weird hours, too. Been writing about it for three years. Wondering where you found 1.65° over 1850? Haven't found a figure that high, so far. The next bomb looks to be Arctic and Siberian permafrost to me. https://geoffreydeihl.substack.com/p/banking-on-disaster
