Your writing style doesn't bother me. I felt that you were using different fonts to emphasize points and thoughts in a torental stream of information. smacking the slide screen with your pointer so to speak.

as always, many thanks for your efforts here.

I hope that your current low mood improves ASAP Richard, I am also autistic, 29 years old, dropped out of engineering school, currently unemployed, on disability welfare, I live in Ireland, also quite depressed. I am going to start using medicinal cannabis (high CBD, low THC), hopefully this will help me. And psilocybin mushrooms as well, they are a great treatment for depression. There is also a lesser known psychedelic, mescaline, found in certain species of cactus. Interestingly, it can trigger synesthesia.

Richard, Please NEVER CHANGE your writing style. For every neurotypical who complains to you, there are another Ten of "Us" who are drawn to your information BECAUSE of the way you write. I haven't been able to read long form for years, but your style is like candy for my brain. (Not the info itself. That's scary as can be.) I can consume your writing. I can comprehend it. And my mind doesn't wander while reading it. So, THANK YOU for bringing such great info to so many of us. And, please, ignore the haters. Looking forward to your next piece.

I don't think any of us is "normal". I appreciate your writing and hope things get better for you. Life is not easy for many of us but understand your issues are not easy. I wish you the best and hope you continue to write.

Sorry for the haters, Richard. I think once you have an audience this big, they’re unavoidable.

I wanna say I really appreciate your writing. Seems like you’re the only one out there writing from such an informed position and trying to make such a complex subject accessible to folks who aren’t reading all the research themselves. And hearing more about you, it seems like maybe you’re the only one who even COULD do something like this. As dark as the truth you have to share, I think there’s a lot of us that are grateful for your work.

I also struggle with depression and other mental health issues. Life can be rough. Here’s to picking up the pieces and making the best of the moments we’ve got.

Hi Richard, sorry you're down. The synaesthesia stuff resonates so strongly. I can model complex things in my head too. Not exactly easy to describe. Meditation might help, it works for me. Took a while to learn to shut off the chatter but after a bit it becomes as easy as throwing a switch. I've done it every night since 1997 and whenever else I feel like it. Gardening in that state is very calming. Followed you on Reddit.

Hey Richard. One day at a time, man!

The thing about formatting is it's about engaging with your audience. As you can see from some of the previous comments, much of your audience is more perspective because of your formatting.

It's more about consistency than about fonts, indentation or italics. You decide when to lecture, when to yell, when to QED.

It's your forum. We are your audience.

Your writing style isn't a problem for me, Richard. You present solid, well researched information with reasonable conclusions based on that information. Anyone who doesn't feel some degree of depression from the state of the planet and society has a problem as far as I'm concerned.

Richard,

Sorry to hear you are down, your analyses are valuable and anyone who complains, could be mainly, rather lazy or trained to expect conventional styles through years of consumption of standard writing formats. In any case, as a former teacher of academic writing I enjoy the freedom of your texts. Academia puts restrictions on formatting, syntax, and word choice. These restrictions make much scientific writing overly predictable and all too often, boring. Please don’t change your way of working, which many appreciate.

I am very sorry to hear you are struggling with depression...I have, on and off, for at least 50 of my 67 years, and indeed it is no joke. I see here someone has suggested meditation, which only works for me if it is a mantra focused form of meditation, otherwise my mind goes there (you know where)...Also, a brisk half hour walk every day, caffeine in moderation and having someone to talk it through with have all been of significant help to me...I recently found a very deft therapist who uses Gabor Mate's method called Compassionate Inquiry which I am finding is helping me process through some very old and repetitive emotional patterns...If this is of interest, you can find a therapist if you go to his website, drgabormate.com and go to Courses, then scroll down and click on Compassionate Inquiry, then click on Support/Therapy and then click on Find a Practitioner, or just use this link...https://compassionateinquiry.com/practitioners/ Hoping things will lift in the near future and thank you for all your informative and painstakingly researched reports...

I like the font style. Keeps me engaged. Have to ignore the critics. I don't see them doing complex analysis.

Where is part 2 of your latest piece? I'm uncomfortably relaxed. Need a jolt . . .

OMG! It appears thar I'm Autistic. The only technical papers that I ever understood, even partially, are yours Richard. I was the quintessential "Don't get your panties in a knot about the weather" guy who thought everything would work out in the end. So what if it's a little hotter type of thinking. Then I discovered your papers on Medium and was shocked. I understood. For the first time. Your writings have literally changed my life because now I'm prepares. Not going to be taken by surprise. So what does it mean if I think your writting is easy to understand? Does it mean I'm weird? Now I'm scared, LOL!

Why did you work to mask it? I never even heard about this word before my forties. I was always my autistic self, a kind of a robotic Dr. House combined with a Vulcan, and figured anyone who does not like it can kiss my ass.

Autistic chap checking in. Fuck ‘em, Richard. I like your style. It’s not just your style I like though; it’s the fact that you’re sifting through sophisticated articles and presenting it to us in a ‘language’ we can understand.

Fuck the haters. When people personally attack people for sharing facts they’re idiots and insecure.
